Preschool (Ages 2-6)

Creative Movement Level 1: (Age 2 turning 3)

At Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater (SNHDT). In Creative Movement 1, children are introduced to the fundamental of dance in a fun and imaginative mode. In addition to introducing ballet vocabulary to the students, games and exercises meant to help with balance, coordination, body awareness, and the task of following directions are used throughout. Students are encouraged to try and engage in the class without their parent or caregiver. Parents are welcome to watch from our class observation windows. The class meets one day a week and lasts 30 minutes.

Creative Movement 1 for Age 2 turning 3. Offered September to June
  • Tuesday 11:00am – 11:30am
  • Saturday 8:30am – 9:00am

Creative Movement 2: (Age 3 turning 4)  is a continuation of Creative Movement 1 and also incorporates many fun and imaginative methods for teaching the fundamentals of dance. In addition to introducing ballet vocabulary to the students, games and exercises meant to help with balance, coordination, body awareness, and the task of following directions are used throughout. Students are encouraged to try and engage in the class without their parent or caregiver. Parents are welcome to watch from our class observation windows. The class meets one day a week and lasts 30 minutes.

Creative Movement 2 age 3 turning 4. Offered September to June
  • Friday 10:30am – 11:00am
  • Saturday 9:00am – 9:30am

 

Tap & Ballet Level 1 Classes: (Age 4 to 5 1/2) A continuation of Creative Movement Classes, Tap and Ballet provides students with the fundamentals of both tap and ballet while emphasizing proper posture, coordination, musicality, rhythm and good habits for physical exercise & fun. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Tap & Ballet Level 1 Classes for ages 4 to 5 1/2. Offered September to June
  • Tuesday 9:45am – 10:30am
  • Wednesday 3:00pm – 3:45pm
  • Friday 11:00am – 11:45am
  • Saturday 9:30am – 10:15am

Tap & Ballet Level 2: (Ages 5 1/2  to 6 1/2) A continuation of Tap & Ballet Level 1, this class further explores the fundamentals of both tap and ballet while emphasizing proper posture, coordination, musicality, and good habits for physical exercise and fun. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Tap & Ballet Level 2 Classes for ages 5 1/2 to  6 1/2 . Offered September to June
  • Monday 3:15pm – 4:00pm
  • Wednesday 3:45pm – 4:30pm
  • Thursday 3:15pm – 4:00pm
  • Saturday 10:30am – 11:15am

Primary Ballet 1: (Ages 5 1/2 to 6 1/2) This class is a preparation for basic ballet study. Elementary positions and exercises are introduced. Posture, musicality and coordination are emphasized. Primary Ballet Level 1 starts to build a formal ballet vocabulary. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Primary Ballet 1  for ages 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 . Offered September to June
  • Saturday 11:30am – 12:15pm

Primary Ballet 2: (Ages 6 1/2 to 7). A continuation of Primary Ballet Level 1, this class is also prepares students for further study of basic ballet. Elementary positions and exercises are introduced. Posture, musicality and coordination are emphasized. Primary Ballet Level 2 will continue to help students build a formal ballet vocabulary. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Primary Ballet Classes for ages 6 1/2 to 7 . Offered September to June
  • Wednesday 4:00pm – 4:45pm

 

Hip Hop: (Ages 4 & 6) NEW   This class provides an introduction to the fundamentals of movement and hip hop while emphasizing proper posture, coordination, musicality, and good habits for physical exercise and fun. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Hip Hop Class for ages 4 to 6 years of age . Offered September to June

Join Us Thursday mornings for VIRTUAL DANCE Classes

9:30-10:00am: Creative Movement, Ages 2-4

10:10:30am: Primary Ballet, Ages 5-6

What to Wear:

  • For all Creative Movement, Tap & Ballet, and Primary Ballet: GIRLS:Pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. BOYS: White t-shirt, black tights or dark sweat pants or shorts & black ballet shoes
  • For Hip Hop:  Hip-Hop: Comfortable dance or athletic wear may be worn. Any dance footwear is acceptable. If wearing sneakers they must be clean and not used for street wear — with a non-mark sole. Hair should be secured away from the face. No jewelry please.
  • Jewelry, tutus, and leg warmers are permitted in class at the discretion of the instructor, as long as they are not a distraction.
  • Black tap shoes are needed for all Tap & Ballet classes.
