Two-Week Summer Intensive Program
Monday, August 2 - Saturday, August 14, 2010

The Program
The Summer Intensive Program has been designed to offer students ages 9 and up the opportunity to pursue their dance education and training on a daily basis for two weeks. Students will receive a daily ballet class along with additional classes in Modern, Jazz, Theater Dance, Character, African Dance, Injury Prevention or Dance History. Additional classes for those who qualify include Pointe, Variations, Men's Class and Pas de Deux. All levels meet Monday through Saturday receiving a minimum of three classes per day. Emphasized at all levels is the process of learning and developing skills both artistically and technically. In addition to the faculty listed in this brochure, Guest Artists will be brought in throughout the two week period.

Please note that our Two-Week Intensive has been designed as a two week program. For the convenience of those who are unable to attend two weeks, the option to attend one week is made available. Students who choose to attend one week only may or may not receive all of the classes listed above.

Auditions
No audition is required! All applicants should attend a class at the school prior to the program for level placement purposes. For students who are unable to attend a placement class prior to the program, their first day of class at the Summer Intensive will serve as a placement audition

Tuition - All Levels
If registration is received:

Registration & Payment Policies
If you are registering on or before June 30, 2009 and wish to pay by check, a $100.00 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your registration.  The remaining balance is due by July 1, 2009.

If you are registering on or after July 1, 2009, the full tuition (by cash, check or money order) must accompany the completed registration form. l DO NOT MAIL IN CASH.

Credit Card or Bank Draft payment option is for Full Tuition ONLY and is not available after June 15, 2009.

Class Placement and Levels
All students will be required to attend a level placement class on the first day of the Program. Students will then be placed into levels based on age and ability.

Students will receive a daily ballet class along with traditional classes in Modern, Jazz, Character, Dance Conditioning, Injury Prevention and Dance History. Additional classes for those who qualify include Pointe, Variations, African Dance, Men's Class and Pas de Deux. All levels meet Monday through Saturday, receiving a minimum of three classes per day.

• All classes and course may be subject to change.
Class placement will be subject to director’s and instructor’s final approval.

DRESS CODES
Ballet

Leotard: Black, any style
Pink tights & Pink slippers
Hair must be worn in a bun or similar style
Short hair must be secured with a band
Modern
Leotard: Solid Color, any style
Tights: solid color
Bare Feet, No Shoes
Hair must be pulled back
Jazz/Theater Dance/African Dance/Dance Conditioning* 
Leotard: Solid Color, any style
Tights: Solid Color
Jazz Oxfords or Jazz Sneakers for Jazz
Character Shoes for Theater Dance
*Dancers may wear sweatpants or jazz pants for Dance Conditioning
Hair must be secured back away from face

No extra clothing may be worn in class

Attendance
Attendance at all scheduled classes is required. An unexcused absence may result in dismissal from the program. Missed classes will not be rescheduled.

Health Insurance
All students are required to provide evidence of medical insurance.

Office Hours / When to Arrive
General office hours during the Summer Intensive are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Students may arrive and be picked up during these hours.

What to Bring
Parents should supply students with lunch, light snacks and water.  Water and juice are available for purchase at our studios.  Students under the age of 18 will not be allowed to leave the premises during the program without express, written & signed permission from a parent or guardian.

Housing Information
Host family housing is available to out of state students. This family-style living includes room, meals and transportation at an additional cost of $175.00 per week. Our staff will work closely with each family to ensure the best living situation. Students interested in receiving more information on our host family housing or local families who would like to be a host family should contact the school.  Deadline to apply for host family housing is May 1, 2010.
