- All students enrolled in ballet levels 4-7 have a minimum required study, which means they are required to attend more than once a week. Please review our Class Listing Guidelines for more details on each level's requirements.
- All students enrolled in pointe must attend a minimum of three technique classes per week, in addition to pointe class.
- Intermediate and advanced level students are advised to take a minimum of 3 to 4 technique classes per week to increase strength, stamina and maintain the proficiency that is required at their level.
- To enroll in the intermediate or advanced modern technique classes, the student must also be in Ballet Level 5 or higher, or have previous modern dance training and permission of the instructor.
Attendance
Consistent attendance is critical to consistent progress. It is helpful when students and families inform the school and/or instructor of anticipated absences prior to class time. It is essential that students arrive for class on time. A late arrival does not allow sufficient time to warm-up and can cause injuries. Late arrivals can, at times, disrupt class concentration. Classes missed may be made up in another class of similar duration and level. Arrangements for all make-up classes must be made with the instructor.
Studio Etiquette
Students may not enter class late or leave without permission. No food is allowed in the studio. Water bottles are allowed in the studios at the discretion of the instructor. Students are expected to be respectful of the facilities and all faculty and staff.
Student Information
Important school notices, schedules and audition information are frequently posted on the school bulletin board, located in the school lounge. It is the responsibility of each student to check the board before and after class. When possible, additional notices will be made for students to bring home.
Class Observation
Parents and guests are welcome to view class at any time through the studio's observation windows. Those who wish to observe in the classroom must receive permission from the instructor in advance. Parents are invited to watch classes at all levels so that they may become familiar with the school and the progression of instruction.
Parent/Teacher Conference
We encourage parents and students to call the school anytime they have questions or concerns. Consideration for both the parent and student is of utmost importance to our staff. For extended conferences with instructors, we encourage parents to call the school to arrange for a meeting. Please keep in mind that teachers are often scheduled to teach consecutive classes. The need to begin and end class on time does not always allow ample time for faculty to meet with parents in between classes. Scheduled conferences will allow for a more comfortable setting.
Class Cancellation Due to Bad Weather
During inclement weather, Southern NH Dance Theater will post any cancellations
on the radio station website www.WZID.com. Students and parents may also call (603) 625-9272 where a message will be left on the school answering machine in the event that classes are canceled. When possible, make-up classes will be scheduled for those classes canceled during bad weather.
Parking at Englewood Park
Englewood Park has reserved parking, and Southern NH Dance Theater has exclusive use of the spaces marked 3 and 4 in the front and back of the building. In addition to the reserved parking, we have access to all of the spaces marked "visitor parking." During business hours, we ask all students and parents to please use these areas. Parking is more flexible during evening hours.
For everyone's safety we ask that students arriving for class be dropped off at the front of the building. Students waiting to be picked up after class are asked to please wait inside until your ride arrives. We also ask that parents not allow their children to play in or around the parking area, as it is occupied by several other businesses and can be a busy area in the late afternoon. All questions regarding parking should be directed to the front desk.
