Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet is the school's affiliate performing company. The company serves as a training ground for local youths and the pre-professional student by providing them with intensive training, individual coaching, performing opportunities, and exposure to master classes from various guest artists. Upper level students that attend an appropriate number of classes and maintain the required level of skill and proficiency may be accepted into the company by audition and/or invitation only.

Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet, Inc. is a non-profit organization. It is organized to act as a performing group, with the intent of promoting and encouraging the knowledge and appreciation of ballet and other dance forms through performance and education.

The Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet presents three major events throughout the year - the ever popular holiday classic The Nutcracker, as well as a Spring Fling repertory concert and the school's Year-End Performance. From time to time, the Youth Ballet will do business as, and appear or perform under, the name Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater.

Recognition of Artistic Excellence

George Balanchine Trust
On more than one occasion, SNHYB has been recommended by repetiteurs of the George Balanchine Trust (including Darla Hoover and Deborah Wingert, both formerly of New York City Ballet) to be granted permission to perform Mr. Balanchine’s ballet “Valse-Fantaisie.” Dancers from the Youth Ballet had the distinct honor of performing this renowned ballet in 2001, 2002 and 2007. Ms. Hoover and Ms. Wingert worked closely with the dancers to stage this ballet.

Regional Dance America
Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet (SNHYB), the school's affiliate performing company, is a member with performing status of Regional Dance America (RDA) Northeast, a national organization of pre-professional dance companies. Evaluated in the spring of 2005, SNHYB is the first company from New Hampshire – and currently the only company from New England – to be accepted into this prestigious organization. SNHYB dancers participate in the Northeast Regional Festival, hosted by a different RDA company each year. Our dancers take master classes and seminars with renowned teachers from professional companies and are seen by teachers, directors, choreographers and other dance professionals from around the world. SNHYB dancers also perform at each festival. For more information, visit www.regionaldanceamerica.org.

Professional Choreography
Because of the high level of training and enthusiasm displayed by our company dancers, SNHYB has attracted the interest of internationally renowned choreographers. Among them are: Chiara Ajkun, founder and co-artistic director of Ajkun Ballet Theatre in New York City; Peter Pawlyshyn, Director of Kansas City Ballet School ; Kitty Seale, Artistic Director of Alabama Dance Theatre; Lynn Cote former principal dancer and resident choreographer for The Washington Ballet and Jeremy Collins, former principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and San Francisco Ballet.

SNHYB Valentine Gala
Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet hosts an annual Valentine Gala fundraising event. It is an elegant evening of cocktails, delicious food, live music, entertainment, dancing and a silent auction. We also select a few special items for a live auction later in the evening. Proceeds from the event help support participation in the Regional Dance America Northeast festival and other activities of the Youth Ballet.
