Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater (SNHDT), now regarded as the area's finest dance school, was founded in September of 1996. Our highly skilled faculty provides quality training and a sound education in dance as a performing art. While nurturing the development of each student's technical and artistic skills, we also emphasize an understanding of the inherent traditions that lie behind each dance form. It is our goal to support the philosophy that dance, much like any art form, is an important part of our society's cultural fabric and heritage.

Patricia Lavoie, the school's founding director and a native of Bedford, not only brings back to the community her established skills and reputation as a teacher, but also her knowledge and experience as a professional dancer. Former and current students of Ms. Lavoie have gone on to continue their training at: American Ballet Theater, The Boston Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, The Universal Ballet Academy in Washington, DC, Ballet Academy East in NYC, The Nutmeg Ballet, The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, The School of American Ballet (SAB), San Francisco Ballet, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell, Miami City Ballet, Walnut Hill, The Cincinnati Ballet, Ajkun Ballet Theatre, Ballet Austin and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
